Seafarer Medical Requirements in Denmark

In Denmark, the Danish Maritime Authority (Søfartsstyrelsen) is responsible for seafarer certification, including the rules on seafarers' health certificates.

Applicable standards

Danish rules implementing MLC, 2006 and STCW set the health requirements for seafarers on Danish ships. Check the Danish Maritime Authority's website for the current executive order and guidance.

Examination information

Confirm with the Danish Maritime Authority which doctors may carry out the examination and which forms are used.

Approved / authorized medical examiners

Check the Danish Maritime Authority for recognised examining doctors in Denmark and abroad.

Medical certificate

International minimums (MLC, 2006 Standard A1.2 and STCW Regulation I/9) cap medical certificates at two years (one year for seafarers under 18) and colour-vision certification at six years. National rules may be stricter.
