Our standards
SeafarerFit:
- Prioritizes authoritative sources — international conventions and guidelines (ILO, IMO), national maritime and health authorities, and peer-reviewed or recognised clinical guidance.
- Identifies jurisdiction — every regulatory page states whether it is international or specific to a country.
- Dates regulatory information — source publication dates, the date we last checked, and the next review date are shown.
- Updates changed information — content is reviewed on a schedule and whenever we learn of a change.
- Corrects errors — see the Corrections Policy; every article has a “Report an error” form.
- Does not fabricate medical claims — we never invent statistics, credentials, reviewers, approvals or endorsements.
- Does not guarantee medical outcomes — no content promises a pass, approval, certificate or job.
- Separates advertising from editorial content — see the Advertising Disclosure.
- Clearly labels sponsored listings — and payment never changes verification.
How content is produced
Content is drafted by the SeafarerFit editorial team [DESCRIBE WRITERS AND WHETHER AI TOOLS ARE USED IN DRAFTING], checked against the cited sources, and published with the author named. Content that has not been reviewed by a qualified medical professional says so plainly.
Source records
Each regulatory item records the source authority, title, URL, publication and effective dates, jurisdiction, date last checked, next review date and reviewer.
Independence
SeafarerFit is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the organizations whose documents it cites.
